Brennen Nakagawa

My name is Brennen Nakagawa, and this is my 4th year working at PTEC. I grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota and moved here to the Springs shortly after graduating high school in 2020. Outside of work I enjoy reading, playing video games, or watching sports (Go Seahawks!) to unwind but also enjoy going out golfing or to watch live sports such as the Rockies.

I’m currently attending college with the intent of graduating with a secondary special education degree to further my career working in SPED. I found my passion for special education by growing up around my high school’s SPED team as my mom has been working as a paraprofessional for 28 years. Throughout high school I took classes that had me work with different students as a “student paraprofessional” which helped me prepare to work as a para later down the line. Once I started working at PTEC, the experiences I’ve had supporting and connecting with students have only reinforced my passion for working in special education. Seeing our students’ “light bulbs come on” when they understand a concept they may have been struggling with is such a rewarding feeling and I strive to provide that support to as many students as I can daily.
