A Landmark Year for James Irwin Athletics

The 2025–2026 school year will be remembered as one of the most exciting and successful in the history of James Irwin Charter High School athletics.

Across every season, our student-athletes competed with passion, resilience, and pride. This year brought record-breaking performances, historic milestones, and incredible growth—setting the stage for even greater success ahead.

Team Success

Two Jaguar teams reached the state stage this year.

Girls’ basketball delivered a strong season defined by teamwork and perseverance. Meanwhile, girls’ soccer qualified for the state tournament and competed in a tightly contested first-round game, proving they can compete with the best teams in Colorado.

Record-Breaking Performances

Track & Field reached new heights this season with multiple school records falling.

Stella Reed set new school records in both the discus and shot put

The girls’ 4x100 meter relay team broke a school record that had stood for 11 years

Dominik Browne broke two major records:

The 400 meter record

The 200 meter record, previously held by 4-time state champion Miguel Molas

These accomplishments reflect not only talent, but dedication, discipline, and a commitment to excellence.

Individual Excellence

James Irwin athletes continued to shine at the highest level.

Ariel Aguilar qualified for the state golf tournament, marking the first Jaguar appearance at state in over 15 years

On the track:

Dominik Browne, Nyla Thomas, and Allison Pollock each qualified in three events

Makayla Canole and Mia Busby qualified in two events

Grace Little earned her place among the state’s top competitors

Competing in multiple events at state is a significant achievement and highlights the depth of talent in the program.

Wrestling Strength (Historic Year)

This was a record-setting year for Jaguar wrestling.

James Irwin qualified 8 wrestlers for the state tournament, the most in school history:

Aiden Ramos, Braylon Vargas, Anderson Kuczkowski, Dominick Pastrana,
Clare Anthony, Aubrey Spitzley, Chloe Martin, and Lilliana Vanasse

Their success reflects the strength, resilience, and work ethic that define the program.

Beyond Athletics

Success at James Irwin extended far beyond traditional sports.

The Robotics team had an incredible season, advancing all the way to the World Championships

We introduced “JJ the Jaguar” as our official mascot, boosting school spirit and student engagement across campus

The James Irwin Match Wits team had an outstanding season this year, earning a place at the state competition and showcasing their problem-solving skills and academic excellence at the highest level.

These moments helped strengthen our sense of community and pride.

A Historic Step Forward

One of the most exciting developments in school history is just beginning.

James Irwin will officially launch its first-ever football program in the 2026–2027 school year.

This milestone marks a major step forward for our athletics department and is already generating excitement among students, staff, and families.
