Anna Austin

English 9/English 12/Drama Teacher

Ms. Anna Austin joined the James Irwin family as a long-term sub for the spring semester of 2023 and was hired on as a full-time teacher that fall. She currently teaches English 9, English 12, and Drama. Ms. Austin is incredibly passionate about the written word as well as theatre. She obtained her degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Tx in Theatre and English. Her favorite plays are Rabbit Hole and Hello, Dolly! (in which Dolly is also her dream role). Ms. Austin is well versed in all areas of theatre, including technical aspects, and looks forward to providing a well-rounded education to her students.

Ms. Austin grew up on a cattle farm in Texas, just south of Dallas, and is not afraid of hard work. She remembers her Drama teacher from the small town of Maypearl, Tx fondly and credits her for her loves of theatre and teaching. She has lived in Colorado Springs for 6 years and adores the mountains and people she has met here. She is incredibly grateful to work on the supportive team at James Irwin Charter High School and looks forward to many more years in her position, and she hopes to grow the drama department to its maximum capabilities.
