Dear James Irwin Families,

Happy Holidays!

As we approach this festive season, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each of you.  I hope this holiday season is filled with joy, peace, and cherished moments with your loved ones.  As we wrap up this semester, please be reminded that our last day of school will be Wednesday, December 20th.  We eagerly anticipate welcoming our students back on Tuesday, January 9th.

On a significant note, I am thrilled to share some exciting news and leadership changes for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.  Over the past two years, our dedicated team, including JICS board and D49 administration, has been working tirelessly to launch our third James Irwin Elementary school.  This new campus, located at the former PTEC building on Constitution Avenue, will be known as James Irwin Elementary at Canada Drive.

It is my pleasure to announce that Mrs. Saadia Dumas will take the helm as Principal of the new elementary school at Canada Drive.  A valued member of our community since 2007, Saadia’s journey from instructional assistant to an established leader makes her an exemplary choice for guiding our new campus.

In support, Chloe Whatley will step into the role of Assistant Principal. Chloe’s journey with us began in 2015, and her diverse experiences, especially in special education, primes her for this new challenge.

With these transitions, the leadership at the James Irwin Howard Campus will also evolve.  Mrs. Kimberly Nabeta, our current Howard Assistant Principal, will ascend to the role of Principal. Kim’s journey with us, starting in 2014, and her deep involvement in educational and leadership roles, make her a perfect fit for this position.

Joining Kim will be Ami Brinlee, stepping into the role of Assistant Principal.  Ami, who started as an instructional assistant in 2013, has consistently demonstrated her leadership abilities and dedication to our mission.

Please join me in congratulating these outstanding educators as they step into their new roles in the 2024-2025 school year. Their commitment and vision are key to the continued success and growth of our James Irwin community.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a joyful New Year!

Sincerely,

Rob Daughety, CEO
