Katie Moran

AP Calculus/Advanced Math/Trigonometry/Lead Math Teacher

Mrs. Katie Moran began teaching Algebra 1 and Intermediate Algebra at JICHS in October 2019 but currently teaches Honors Trigonometry, Advanced Math, and AP Calculus AB. Mrs. Moran is the lead teacher of the math department where she enjoys supporting her fellow math teachers through curriculum choices and classroom engagement. Her favorite thing about teaching math is having students make connections between different mathematical concepts and doing real-world application problems.  She is also the head coach of the varsity Track and Field team which competes in the Tri-Peaks League and with other schools throughout Colorado.

Katie Moran was born and raised in Monroe, NY, where she met her now husband, Shane Moran (current JICHS Physics teacher). The couple moved to Colorado for a PCS with the Army in 2019. Katie attended college at Fairfield University in Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and ran Division I cross-country.  This past year, she completed her Colorado Teaching License coursework and has started a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Colorado Denver. When she isn't teaching or coaching, Mrs. Moran enjoys running, thrift shopping, spending time with her family and friends, and completing DIY projects in her home.
