As a commuter school, JICS administrators will decide whether to delay or dismiss early due to bad weather. Because of our broad geographical student base, JICS may feel it is necessary to close because of severe weather even when District 2 remains open. In such a case, tune in to local radio and television stations for pertinent announcements, check the school website, or the school’s answering machine. In all cases of bad weather, parents should exercise their own judgment whether to bring/send their child to school. In cases of bad weather, all first-hour tardies and absences will be excused. If there is a two-hour delay in classes, HS/MS teachers should report no later than 9:00 am and ES teachers should report by 9:30 am.
If the school will be closed for the day, or on a delay, you can find that information from these sources no later than 5:30a:
If there is a late start, classes will begin at 9:45 a.m., unless otherwise posted, starting with 1st period. Classes will be shortened to fit the abbreviated day and there will be no 8th hour study hall. School will be dismissed at the regular time. The High School Cafe will be open as usual.
If there is a late start, the classes will begin at 9:45 am, unless otherwise posted, starting with period 1. Classes will be shortened to fit the short day and there will be no 7th hour study hall. The Middle School Cafe will be open as usual.
If there is a late start, school starts at 10:00 am. There is NO AM Kindergarten. Extended day Kindergarten students may come at 10:00 am with 1-5 grade students. PM Kindergarten is regular schedule. Release time is regular time (3:30 pm M-Th, 1:30 F). Lunch schedule remains the same.
In case of severe weather during school hours, an announcement will be made over the PA system. Students are to follow whatever instructions are given. Information will also be posted on the website.
