“For years I have hoped for and dreamed about having a dynamic Direct Instruction/Core Knowledge elementary school in southeast Colorado Springs. I count it a privilege to work with the children, parents, and staff who will be at James Irwin Charter Elementary School as we build a school where all children from all backgrounds will learn to high levels of mastery and gain confidence in their advancing skills.
We are bringing together a ‘dream team’ of passionate, caring, and incurably positive staff who will be highly trained in the science and artistry of effective teaching methods. I envision that this school will be like a teeming garden, bursting with growth and vitality, where students spread strong roots and sturdy stems to hold breadth of expanding knowledge and develop strong skills that will allow them to pursue lofty dreams and goals, supported by depth of noble character to sustain them as they become young adults.”
