Malia Busekrus and Victor Ikpoh of Ms. Paula Higgins 6th grade class each had their poetry published in the locally-distributed coupon magazine, Market Treasury (2nd issue of 2012). Although not winners of the grand prize in three age categories, the judges were so impressed with the entries that came from James Irwin Charter Middle School that they chose two to showcase nonetheless. Working with ABC Fund Raising, Inc., James Irwin Charter Elementary School raised $880 for the Yellow Ribbon Campaign in Colorado Springs. The amount is the most raised in Colorado Springs of the 18 schools participating. Continue reading

Four students from James Irwin Charter High School were named as semi-finalists for the Daniels Scholarship by the Daniels Fund on February 1, 2012.  These students are among approximately 700 semi-finalists from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Eileen Johnston, Chief Financial Officer of James Irwin Charter Schools in Colorado Springs has earned the Charter School Operational Excellence Award for the State of Colorado for 2012.  The Award will be presented during the Colorado Charter Schools Conference held at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield, CO, on February 24, as part of the Charter Friends Award Ceremony.  Continue reading
