* League game | H-Home | A-Away
The 7th grade Jags had a rough start to the game due to a lack of defensive hustle and trailed at half time 27-10. When the 3rd quarter started, however, the Jags came out determined to show that they were better than what they had showed in the first half. With some great defensive play by Jonathan Tankersley and some good shooting by Domonique Martinez, the Jags were able to cut the lead down to 21-30. In the end, Ellicott proved to be the better team on this day, but the Jags will be better prepared to get them next time.
THe 8th grade Jags had there first league game last night and they came out ready to play. Othello Walker led the team with 4 steals, while Patrick Tankersley had 12 points to lead the team in scoring, but the player of the game was Preston Limmer who carried the team on both ends of the floor with 10 rebounds and 8 points. The final score was Jags 42 Ellicot 9. Hope to see you at our next home game!
The sixth grade boys started their season off against a tough team from Falcon middle school. The A team lost 9-20, but after a tough first half, the boys didn't give up and came back by outscoring Falcon 9-6 in the second half. Caleb Miller had 5 points and Trevor Oakley added 4 points. Derrick Gibson played some really good defense with 5 steals and Lautoa Lefano added 6 rebounds.
The B team struggled but showed a lot of hustle and worked hard. Anthony Cameron had an impressive 6 rebounds for the game.
The 7th graders started out really slow and when compiled with a lot of foul trouble it was not looking good in the first half. The Jags trailed 8 to 9 at half time, but were determined to show Banning Lewis the real Jags during the 2nd half. They came out ready to play defense and were able to out score Banning Lewis 13 - 4 in the third quarter. 9 out of the 10 players that played were able to score with Zak Madrid being the leading scorer with 6 points. In the end, the Jags defense was too much and they were able to win 34-20.
In the Jags game last night, the Jags came out a little sluggish in the first quarter and were down 12-6 but with great team defense and some great individual defensive efforts from Derek Haley, Preston Limmer, Isaac Hernandez and Jonas Helvie they were able to get back into the game. The game was very tight and the lead kept going back and forth. With just 3 seconds left in the game the Jags had the ball, so Coach called a time out and set up the last play. The play we designed to go to Isaac who was the leading scorer with 12 points. The Jags executed the play perfectly and Isaac got the shot of just in time. As the buzzer went off, the ball hit the backboard and rolled off the right side of the rim leaving the Jags with a 3 point loss, but they are determined there will be a different outcome next time.

The Jags jumped out to a 12-7 lead at half time due to some good guard play from D'ontoneo Williams. The Trojans fought back and ended up tying the game in the last minute, sending the game to overtime. The fans were cheering loud and the boys played hard, but came up a bit short, losing 20-22. Omar Nevarez led the team with 6 points and 11 rebounds, and D'ontoneo had 8 points and 6 steals.
The Jags played a great game last night against the perennial powerhouse of CSCS. The Jags came out a little slow in the first quarter, but went in at half time down only 7 points. The third quarter proved to be like the first quarter and the Jags were down by 12 going into the 4th quarter. With a great defensive effort by Jordan and several other guys the Jags were able to stay in the game. Zak Madrid and Domonique Martinez caught fire in the 4th quarter and we were able to pull to within 4 points. Zak was able to rain in 27 points for the game while Dominique poured in another 12. The Jags lost 47-52, but it was a great game and we are excited for our home game against CSCS.

Last night the Jags were prepared to make up for an earlier loss to Ellicott. We came out playing tough Defense and jumped out to an early lead. Unfortunately several minutes before half time the Jags let their tempers get the best of them and because of early foul trouble they began to lose control of the game. Ellicott jumped out to a big lead, but the Jags never gave up. They were able to fight back and stay within reach, but in the end the foul trouble proved to be too much to over come. Caleb Elmore played a great game and ended up with 16 points while shooting 6-11 from the charity stripe. Zebian James also had his best game of the year and was able to pour in 7 points.
The Jags had another league game against Ellicott last night. The boys came out flat in the beginning of the game, but they ultimately got it together and played well enough to win the game 33-19. Jonas Helvie had a great game defensively and rebounded very well. Patrick Tankersley also had a great impact on both ends of the floor. Othello Walker and Jalen Scandrett did a good job at controlling the game as they both had 5 steals. Although it wasn't their best game of the season, everyone got to play and contribute.

Great Job guys!!
