The mission of James Irwin Charter Middle School is to guide and motivate students in the development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs.
JICMS is structured as an academically rigorous program based on the Core Knowledge scope and sequence. Students will be required to take core classes in English, math, science, history, and physical education. Music and art are also offered as part of our regular schedule. Core Knowledge seeks to give every student a broad foundational knowledge base that is essential for success in school and beyond.
In order to help students achieve, we will limit our student enrollment to 360. Class size will be limited to 25 students in core classes.
The values taught at JICMS will help students develop strong moral character.
Parents are significantly involved in JICMS and actively contribute their talents and abilities. We rely on each family to volunteer 20 hours per year. Parents also make up the majority of the school’s Board of Directors.
Single-sex classrooms enable students to reach their full potential by helping to eliminate distractions and reduce disciplinary issues.
To channel creativity towards academic excellence and to create an environment of mutual respect, all students wear school uniforms.
Enrollment interest is high. Letters of Intent are currently being accepted for the 2005-2006 academic year. The school population is limited to 360 students; therefore, we strongly encourage you to submit your Letter of Intent today.
