Tuesday night the Jags track team made their debut. Leading the way on the girls sprints was Kasey Jones who swept the sprints by winning the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes. Kelsey Jones took 3rd in the 100 meter dash and 2nd in the 200 meter dash. Caitlin Thompson took 2nd in the 400 meter dash. On the boys side Josh Rendon and Christian Massey showed promise in the sprints, while Bryant Perkins placed 6th in the long jump. Armando Appio-White placed in both the shot and the discus.
Last night the Jags track team ran in their second meet of the season and were highlighted by the debut performance of Icenia Anderson who won both the 100 and 200 meter sprints. Kasey Jones also offered firepower to the girls sprints by placing 2nd in the 200 and 1st in the 400. The girls 4x200 meter dash consisting of Icenia Anderson, Kelsey Jones, Caitlin Thompson, and Kasey Jones won in convincing fashion in their first race of the season. Korri Miller, Sara Rendon, and Caitlin Martinez all threw the discus and shot well and continue to improve. On the boys side Armando Appio-White and Steven Rohde both placed in the discus. Oren Facey tied for first in the 100 meter dash and placed 5th in the long jump. Bryant Perkins placed fourth in the long Jump. Josh Rendon placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash while Christian Massey placed fourth in the 200 meter dash. Job well done Jags! Keep up the good work!
The Jag's track teams had an impressive showing at the Palmer Terror Invite. Icenia Anderson won the 100 meter dash and placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash. Kasey Jones placed 4th in the 200meter dash and 4th in the 400 meter dash. The girls Medley and 4 x 200 meter relays also placed 3rd and 4th. Great job Ladies.! The boys were highlighted by a fourth place finish in the discus by Steven Rohde. There were also notable performances and improvements by Christian Masse in the 400 and the boys 4 x 200 meter relay. Keep on improving Jags.
The Jags track team traveled to Elbert Saturday and put on an impressive showing. The boys had several personal bests with Josh Rendon running a 2:28 in the 800 meter dash beating his previous personal record by 7 seconds. Christian Massey beat his time in the 400 meter dash by a second. Steven Rohde has become a beast in the throws. He placed 2nd in the discus, breaking his own school record with a throw of 120 feet 10 inches, and 4th in the shot with throws coming close to 37 feet. The girls were once again led by the very deep squad of sprinters. Icenia Anderson added to her collection of medals by winning the 200 meter dash, running a time of 26.38 which qualifies her for the state meet. She is now running both the 100 and 200 at the state meet. Kelsey Jones won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.23 and took 3rd in the 200. Kasey Jones also took home an individual first place medal with a victory in the 400 meters with Cailtin Thompson also placing in 8th in the race. The 4X200 meter relay consisting of Icenia Anderson, Kelsey Jones, Caitlin Thompson, and Kasey Jones continued their dominance by wining once by a huge margin. In the throws. . . Sarah Rendon broke the newly set school record broken by Caitlin Daugherty a couple weeks ago in the discus by throwing over 74 feet. Great job Jags!!
This weekend your girl's track team participated in the state track meet. They placed in the top 15 in the class 3A out of 57 teams. Their meet started off with the sprint medley relay consisting of Kelsey Jones, Caitlin Thompson, Icenia Anderson. Kelsey Jones and Caitlin Thompson held the position for Icenia Anderson to take control and gain the lead for James Irwin. James Irwin was in the lead up until the final 100 meters of the race when Kasey Jones who has been battling a hamstring pull had to hold on and was barley beat at the end. The relay ened up taking third place. It is fair to say the we were a pulled hamstring away from being the 3A state champions in the medley relay. Icenia Anderson took 4th place in the 200 meter dash and finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash which scored 13 of our 20 points at the meet. Great job ladies!!
