The boys volleyball season got underway last night as your JAGS travelled downt he road to play Fountain Valley. It was a very competitive contest going the distance with the JAGS coming up a little bit short losing in three 20-25, 25-19, 20-25. With five players returning from last year and a group of new players, we see a positive season ahead. Patrick Jackson & Josh Arandia had 3 aces and Jesse Reynolds had 2 blocks. Overall, as a team, we played very well and are excited about the future of James Irwin Boys Volleyball. Our next match is next Tuesday, March 16 in the Field House when we play Doherty. Come out and support your JAGS at 6:00!!
On March 18th, we traveled to Doherty high school where we split our matches with the two Doherty teams, losing in three to the blue team and winning the second match against white 2-0. Last night we had our first home match playing the 3A Champs from last year, TCA 1 and Doherty blue. Unfortunately, we lost both matches in 2 straight games, but we’re still looking forward to the season. The team plays next Thursday, April 8th at home against Ponderosa HS and TCA 2. Bryant Perkins and Jake Broce each had 5 kills. Jake Broce, Jesse Reynolds and Josh Arandia each had 2 solo blocks each.
Last night was the last regular season match for the boys volleyball. They lost the first match in two straight to very talented Faith Christian team and lost the 2nd match in two to the Doherty A team. We now wait and see who and where we will play Tuesday night in the first round of the state tournament. Jesse Reynolds had 7 kills and 6 blocks. Jake Broce had 7 kills. Bryant Perkins had 4 kills and 4 aces. Patrick Jackson had 3 kills and 3 aces.
